A:Where have you been yesterday?(어제 어디 갔었어요?)

B:I went to the downtown near the City Hall.(시청근처 시내에 갔었어요.)

A:Wasn’t there a big rally around the area?(그 근처에 큰 시위가 있지 않았어요?)

B:Yes,it was terrible.My car was stuck on the street for around an hour.(맞아요. 정말 엉망이었어요. 한 시간 동안 길거리에서 꼼짝달싹 못했다니까요.)

A:You should have used a subway.(지하철을 탔어야죠.)

B:You’re right.I won’t drive to the downtown again.(맞아요. 다음부터는 절대로 시내에 갈 때 차 가져가지 않을 거예요.)

▶downtown: 시내, 중심가

▶rally: 시위, 집회

▶be stuck: (움직이지 못하고, 장소나 공간 등에) 처박혀 있다.∼에 끼다.My finger was stuck in the elevator door.(엘리베이터 문에 손가락이 끼었다).

▶should have + p.p.:∼했어야 하는 건데. 후회, 질책 등의 의미로 사용하는 표현이다.We should have left a little earlier.(우리 조금 더 일찍 나올 걸 그랬어요.)
